A Day in the Life of a Princess

I just got back from our church's womens retreat " A Day In The Life of a Princess" This retreat has been a labor of love. This was my second retreat as an adult and I was leading!!! When I volunteered last summer to help lead I had no idea how much work was put into it. We started meeting in November to plan and the momentum grew!! It was easy to focus on all the work, and how tired I was, and the list that just seemed to keep growing of everything that wasn't done. But come 6:00pm on Friday when the retreat officially started the focus changed and it was all about God and his wonderful love for us that he wanted to show us. And show us He did!!!

First, by how beautiful everything was! We were at Sweet Briar College. An all girls college in central Virginia that has the most amazing campus!

The weather was a warm 80 something with a cool breeze - although the forecast was for thundershowers! There were butterflies and flowers, even a herd of deer wandered through. He delighted us so much through nature!!

I was nervous because I was in all the skits - its been a long time since Mr. Burgess's theater class!!! But I got to dress as a princess wasn't a far stretch of how I would like to dress everyday. And they made everyone laugh which made it all it all worth it. In these pics are me the young enthusiastic princess, Bonnie my retreat leader partner as the older, wiser princess and Jenna our fairy Godmother. Also the Pamper Princess Party, where we learned massage techniques rank cucumber water and ate lots of chocolate. We did an Amazing Grace Race. We got a bible verse to give us a clue to where on campus we had to go, then had to perform a task to get a piece of our princess attire (that stood for the Armor of God in Ephesians) We also had a game night in the Boathouse. It was perfect a roaring fire inside, smores, and it was thundering and lightning outside!!

It was such a blessing to have a weekend away with all these wonderful ladies!! More pictures to come!!!

I Don't Know What I Did to Get on Her Good Side...

I just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas that, get this, my mother-in-law paid for. It was a girls trip with her and my sister-in-law. I am very grateful, but those who know me the last 8 years or so know that we got off to a bumpy start. So I am happy to say that I think she is accepting me! What a nice way to show it, right!?

I have a lot more pictures but I lost my USB cable, so as soon as I get it, I'll share! I didn't want to come back to still cold Virginia. I wish I could've shipped my family out to Nassau to be with me. I would still be sitting there with my margarita!!
